Reflecting on the shoot

I found the shoot a very enjoyable and pleasant experience as I was working with my friends who were the models. It was also accomplished much faster than the other shoots where I was photographing myself as this time I was only directing and photographing. My friends also took directions and instructions very quickly and understood what I was envisioning which made the process very efficient and easy. It took a bit of moving around and adjusting shutter speeds before I got the photos I wanted, however, I am super pleased with how they turned out as it was exactly what I wanted. After this experience I certainly want to involve more of my friends in my work as I'd be able to get things done much faster and also with better results.

We initially began with one model standing up on the bed who was supposed to jump backwards as if she was being blown by a wind, however, we found that this didn't come across very well on camera as much of her face became hidden by the duvet. Therefore, I decided to have her sit down on the bed instead. I found that the best photos from the shoot were the ones where there were no awkward gaps in the composition so the models weren't too close or too far from each other. The best photos were also the ones where no model was being blocked by another and they were all visible.

I believe that the photos could've included more movement and chaos similar to Kerry Skarbakka's work, however, I am still pleased with how they came out. Next time however, I definitely could've used a fan to blow the model's hair around to create the illusion of wind or had someone moving around the curtains. I also think I could've created more movement with the duvet by throwing it up to produce more dramatic photos.
